COVID-19 and Traveling to Aruba

All visitors will be required to complete the online Embarkation/Disembarkation card process and be approved in order to be permitted entry to Aruba. The new ED card process will be available online as of June 26, 2020, and the requirements of the ED card will include five components. Learn about the components required by visiting Aruba.com. Please note the Mandatory COVID insurance requirement is purchased separately from any optional travel insurance offers.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of Aruba must ensure that all visitors are properly insured. The Aruba Visitors Insurance is a mandatory insurance that helps protect visitors against incurred medical and non-medical expenses if testing positive for COVID-19 during their stay in Aruba.

Effective August 1, 2021, a flat premium of $15 is charged for stays not exceeding 180 days. This applies to visitors ages 15 and older. Children under 15 years receive free coverage. Please check this link for the latest information on Aruba Visitor’s Insurance.

As soon as you’ve completed the ED-Card form and payment, you will receive an email with your Aruba Visitors Insurance policy documents attached.

It is important that the government of Aruba have testing to confirm that travelers are negative for coronavirus. For this reason, a protocol has been put in place that allows the following two options for testing:

Option 1: Acquire PCR testing results no more than 72 hours before traveling to Aruba. The test needs to be a COVID-19 test, obtained from a nasal/oral specimen through PCR testing performed by a certified lab, and the results need to be uploaded as part of the ED card process. The very latest a test result can be uploaded is 12 hours prior to departure.

Option 2: If you cannot acquire a PCR test before your departure you will be required to take a PCR test when you arrive at the Aruba airport. Travelers can wait to arrive in Aruba and receive a PCR test at the airport. The costs for the test will be the responsibility of the traveler and must be paid for in advance as part of the online Embarkation/Disembarkation card process. The test results will take 6-8 hours to confirm but guests should be prepare to spend up to 24 hours in quarantine in their hotel room(patio/balcony space included).

For more information please visit Aruba.com

The vaccination does not come into play.  The vaccine is not known to result in a positive on a test.
If you were not able to acquire a PCR test prior to your departure you will need to take one at the Aruba airport when you arrive. While you wait for your results, you will be required to quarantine in your hotel room for up to 24 hours. For guests who are for guest quarantining for 24-hours, your room includes a fully stocked mini-bar with water, soft drinks, beer and wine plus room service with full menu. Wifi will be available so you will be able to check the status of your results via email.

With the exception of wearing a mask while we seat you in our indoor restaurants, you wont be required to wear one at the resort. Our restaurant staff will offer you a mask and hand sanitizer when you arrive and you can remove it once you are seated. The government of Aruba strongly encourage visitors to have their masks handy for situations where social distancing proves difficult.

If the test is positive, the confirmed case will remain in isolation at one of the designated properties until recovered. Throughout the isolation process, medical follow-up will be conducted. Once the patient recovers and tests negative, he/she can resume vacation or depart the destination.

When someone tests positive on island they are taken to an isolation facility.  We do not disclose the location for privacy reasons.  They are beautifully appointed private rental guest homes complete with kitchen, separate bedroom, bath, living room and with a/c, wifi, washer/dryer etc.  Everything they would need for a week in isolation.
Anyone who stayed in the same room as the person who tested positive can either go into isolation with their loved one, or fly home immediately or pay to go into quarantine off property.

The person must stay in isolation for 7 days if asymptomatic and up to 10 days if showing symptoms.  They must be fever free to leave isolation.  The doctor visits are covered by insurance as well as the letter to return stating they are safe to travel.

The loved ones who opted to stay must retest to return at their own expense.
