DIVI ARUBA GUEST REVIEW: Without a Doubt, the Best Place to Stay in Aruba!
May 31, 2011
Just got back after spending a week at The Divi Aruba All Inclusive. There are not enough superlatives to describe our wonderful experience. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. The best restaurant experience was at the "Red Parrot." The all inclusive option is nice, because you can visit the other 2 resorts (all within very easy walking distance; or hail one of the golf cart shuttles to take you there-free of charge) and just show them your resort-issued bracelet. You can visit any of the bars or restaurants, and you don't pay anything extra. These resorts are the "low rise" buildings. After taking a bus tour of the island, we drove past the high rise buildings, and that's definitely not a place we would stay. The high rise areas are so commercialized, and we're told it's extremely competitive finding a spot by the pool and beach. Same goes for Divi. If you want a good spot, get up early, go to the towel hut, and put your towel on a lounge chair to stake your claim. They offer an orientation class in the mornings so you can get your bearings. We did not attend, but probably should have. It's good to educate yourself on as much as you can, so you can take advantage of all that is offered. We simply explored all the resorts and discovered things on our own. A couple of tips... there are a few restaurants that require reservations; this too, is a competitive process; you should call or visit the concierge desk by 8:00am to reserve a table; otherwise, they go fast. You certainly can opt to take your chances and just wait for a table. There is nightly entertainment at the resorts. Music, dancers and singing with an island flare. And again, it's no extra charge. Lots of people who we met said there were lots of great restaurants/bars off site. We did not take advantage of that, since we paid for all inclusive. However, after getting our island tour, we didn't see anything that looked so spectacular. We were happy staying on the resort property without straying too far. We were most comfortable with that. If you go here, you will not be disappointed. We have high standards and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a pleasurable and stress-free experience. We will definitely return. And I give a resounding positive recommendation. Be mindful that when booking your trip, ask for a room away from construction. Some rooms were under renovation, and there are some building projects on the grounds. You don't want to be disturbed by that. Also, you may want to ask for a room that's a comfortable distance from the restaurants/bars. You don't want the music throbbing while you're trying to sleep. Definitely go and enjoy!
