Indeed, Aruba is home to an 80-count flock of ostrich, who share their home at the Aruba Ostrich Farm with Australian emus. Aruba's rugged landscape and climate has proven to be welcoming to this bird species, whose native homeland is Africa. Chef Mirko has appeared in a variety of TV shows in Germany. He has also published a range of cook books including Die Soße macht's! (It’s in the sauce!) and Pasta Pasta which were also published in the US and UK.
He runs a range of charity projects like “cooking with kids on dialysis” and “Mirko Reeh helps”, participated in the “Chefs for Africa” project – a book that consists of recipes from famous chefs. Chef Mirko now runs cooking schools in Frankfurt, Ibiza and Mallorca.
